[1] Schedule for 2021-1 graduation

1. Nomination of thesis committee(Through Portal)
1) period: ~ 05.21.(Fri), 18:00
2) How to: [Portal] → [Graduation] → [Thesis/Dissertation info] → [Graduate Thesis management] → Input your information
→ Print out the form → Get advisor & Committee’s signature → Upload through portal
※Be sure to submit English qualification Test score by the deadline of thesis committee nomination

2. Document submission to the office
1) period: ~05.25.(Tue), 18:00
2) Required documents
– The paper you’ve uploaded on the portal(signed application form)
– Pledge of observance of research ethics (Attached 1)
*Office: Juyoung Jun at College of Engineering(Bldg. 108 Room. U203-2)

3. Final Defense: ~ 06.18.(Fri)
1) Send your thesis to all committee members 2 weeks before the defense day
2) Things to bring for defense
– Evaluation form (Attached 2,3)
– Oral test evaluation form (Attached 4): ONLY MS students -> Not official format, but evaluation of presentation ability using English
– Approval of thesis (Attached 5)
– Result of “Turn it in” (Print out the page including your name and plagiarism % and submit it to the advisor)

– Manual: Attached 6
– When the result % is over 20%, submit the additional form, the plagiarism judgement form (Attached 7) with advisor’s opinion

4. Document submission to the office
1) Period: ~06.25.(Fri)
2) Required documents
– Evaluation form (Attached 2,3,4)
– Approval of thesis (Attached 5)
– Result of “Turn it in” (Print out the page including your name and plagiarism %)
＊When the result % is over 20%, submit the additional form, the plagiarism judgement form (Attached 7) with advisor’s opinion

5. Application for permanent course completion: ~06.25.(Fri)
1) Qualification: when you can’t submit the final thesis or official English test score within the attendance period
* Attendance period: MS 6th semester / Ph.D 12th sem. / MS-Ph.D 14th sem.
* The attendance period can be extended maximum 1 year once with approval of committee. (contact the staff first)
2) Application: Submit the application form for course completion (Attached 8) to the staff
3) Note: Unlike the Undergraduate’s course completion, the course completion is a “permanent” application. It’s not “graduating fully”, and you can’t get the actual “degree”

6. Submission of thesis
1) Online submission: 07.12.(Mon) ~ 07.14.(Wed)
– Submission: http://unist.dcollection.net/?localeParam=en
2) Hardcover submission: 07.15.(Thu) ~ 07.16.(Fri)
– Submission to the library (MS: 3 books / Ph.D: 3 books)
* Don’t print out the “form for agreement on thesis open&release” from the system, but submit the [Attached 9] with advisor’s signature to the library when submitting the thesis

9. Remark
1) Reading the thesis guideline thoroughly.
2) Using thesis template after reading the guideline (The template has been changed from the previous one)
3) Observing the research ethics for entire process and submitting the pledge to the staff

10. FAQ
1) Deadline of defense: 06.18.(Fri)
2) Method of defense: Considering COVID-19 situation, Online / Offline / Online+Offline defense are all possible with approval of committee members.
– In case of Offline / Online+Offline defense, the room should be able to accommodate 2 times of the number of people participating.
ex) 6 people in the defense -> Room (classroom/meeting room) should be able to cover more than 12 people
3) If you cannot get the committee member’s signature in person, you could get online signature (make sure the online signature is not too blurry)

[2] Graduate to be in 2021-2nd semester (ONLY Ph.D + MS-Ph.D)

1) According to the regulation, “Pre-defense and Defense can’t be done at the same semester”, graduate to be in 2020-2nd semester should proceed pre-defense in 2021-1st semester.
(or they should have done it before 2021-1st semester(including))

2) Pre-defense : ~6.18.(Fri)
-> 2 weeks before the last day of the semester ~ the last day (6.18.)
